** The Recommended Hot Data Size is a rough estimation of the amount of data at a time that can be efficiently used in queries without decreasing performance. However, this will also greatly depend on the size & complexity of the queries issued. Each increase in size will double the performance for most use cases. The total data capacity is unlimited through the use of Azure Blob Storage. See the documentation for more details on performance, specifications, and costs.

Kinetica PAYG is best suited for new customers evaluating Kinetica or use cases with irregular or unpredictable usage.  Kinetica license fees are based on the size of your cluster and hours of usage and will be billed to your CSP account.

For customers with predictable workloads or an existing Kinetica license, you can choose the BYOL option and input your Kinetica license key. You will not incur additional Kinetica license charges, although you will be charged for Azure infrastructure costs.

GPU Accelerated clusters will use GPUs to accelerate the performance of your database. This option is recommended if you have use cases that would benefit from GPU performance, such as interactive visualization of large scale geographic data or high-cardinality joins.  GPU Accelerated clusters cost more to operate due to the increased cost of the GPU compute nodes.  Consult the Cloud pricing in your region for details on the infrastructure costs.

The size of the cluster will determine the performance of your database. Each increase in size roughly corresponds to a doubling in performance. We recommend you start with smaller cluster sizes for testing and evaluation and then scale to larger sizes (as needed) for your production deployments.

The infrastructure costs will vary based on the size of your cluster, the hours of operation, the region and discounts from your CSP (for reserved instances, enterprise agreements, etc.).  Compute resources (Azure VMs) and storage (Azure Managed Disks) are the largest cost drivers.  For details on the Azure VMs and Managed Disks used for each cluster size, see: https://docs.kinetica.com/7.1/azure/provision/installation/#azure-hardware-config

In Azure, Kinetica is deployed as an Azure Managed Application (

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/managed-applications/overview) and all of the resources are provisioned into the customer’s Azure subscription.  The cluster is fully managed and monitored by Kinetica, with access restricted to Kinetica support personnel.
