Kinetica Active Analytics Platform Releases Out-of-Box Support for NVIDIA RAPIDS, Delivering Massive Performance Boost to Predictive Data Analytics

Customers can now run RAPIDS GPU-accelerated models on streaming data as they address highly complex business challenges, such as real-time risk, predicting credit card fraud, forecasting retail inventory, and understanding customer buying behavior
Washington, D.C.November 5, 2019

Kinetica announced today that the Kinetica Active Analytics Platform, which combines and analyzes billions of live and historical data points continuously to shape business decisions instantly, now incorporates NVIDIA RAPIDS, a GPU-acceleration boost for machine learning, to deliver precision business predictions accessible across the entire organization.

Facing highly complex and unprecedented data challenges, businesses across industries can address a variety of issues with Kinetica, from predicting insurance risk to reprioritizing ER patients, from forecasting pollution to implementing traffic controls, from applying responsive retail pricing to programming inventory management, all by automating informed, real-time predictions. Kinetica with RAPIDS aims to optimize predictive analytics in industries including healthcare, energy, telecommunications, automotive, government, retail, and financial services, among others.

“We live in a world where the data generated by an organization’s activities has become more important than the activities themselves,” said Paul Appleby, CEO at Kinetica. “It is therefore incumbent upon us to react to that data now, and to make predictions that both accurately reflect the information received, and the desired outcome. We are pleased to combine the power of the Kinetica Active Analytics Platform and NVIDIA Rapids to enable machine learning at enterprise scale.”

The Kinetica and NVIDIA collaboration gives chief data officers the tools to impose data-driven decision-making across the organization, in an accessible and fully integrated manner, from data scientist to developer to business intelligence analyst. Data scientists can now dramatically streamline the development and improve the accuracy of their models, by GPU-accelerating their entire pipeline. Data engineers and developers can seamlessly integrate the models into their analytical applications, while ensuring corporate governance.

“As businesses turn to algorithms written by machine learning to make sense of complex data patterns in their markets, they’ll need to rely on accurate, immediate predictions to compete and succeed,” said Bob Pette, Vice President of Professional Visualization at NVIDIA. “The Kinetica Active Analytics Platform incorporates NVIDIA RAPIDS’ open source machine learning toolkit for transparent, of-the-moment predictive analytics powered by NVIDIA GPUs.”

The Kinetica Active Analytics Platform delivers at-scale data exploration and model deployment. That, combined with RAPIDS, enables end-to-end NVIDIA GPU-accelerated data science, operational deployment, and audit at enterprise scale. Kinetica and NVIDIA customers can now run GPU-accelerated machine learning models on data as it streams into the Kinetica Active Analytics Platform. Business decision-makers can now simultaneously implement models and track and evaluate outcomes. Kinetica and NVIDIA in tandem help ensure that data platforms have the infrastructure to support governance, transparency, and repeatability.

The platform can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud via a broad ecosystem including strategic partners such as NVIDIA, Dell Technologies, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Kinetica is available on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace, with single-click deployment. Additionally, Kinetica is part of the Oracle for Startups program, Oracle’s initiative to support entrepreneurs and innovators worldwide. Kinetica is certified to run on premises on Dell EMC PowerEdge servers, delivering exceptional performance and versatility for dynamic workloads that take in raw data to drive actionable insights.

“In the move from passive analytics to active analytics, organizations must get the benefits of machine learning faster—or risk falling behind the competition,” said Vinay Kumar, Vice President of Product Management at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. “Kinetica running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure simplifies machine learning and offers organizations a unified data platform to build and run smart analytics applications, bundling GPU computing, storage, and NVIDIA RAPIDS.”

Kinetica incorporated RAPIDS for predictive analytics, reducing ML model training time using NVIDIA GPUs and producing data analysis faster. The combination of the Kinetica Active Analytics Platform and NVIDIA RAPIDS enhances the power and value of the streaming data analytics Kinetica offers, delivering ML model speed and transparency across the organization.

“Customers today are relying on active analytics to build smart applications powered by real-time data,” said Ron Pugh, Vice President and General Manager, OEM | Embedded & Edge Solutions at Dell Technologies. “Kinetica, running on Dell EMC PowerEdge servers, enables organizations to modernize IT infrastructure and use the power of active analytics and artificial intelligence to deliver new insights, drive operational efficiencies, and transform business decision-making.”
